A Visit from The Orchard School

On Thursday, February 7, 2019, Cancer Support Community Central Indiana had the pleasure of hosting 5th and 6th graders from The Orchard School as a part of their community outreach program. With this program, their goal is to provide students with the opportunity to extend their services to others and make a difference in their community.

Students learned more about the services we offer, how they could volunteer in the future, create cards for comfort kits, and share cookies with our participants. To their surprise, they got to meet former NFL Colts player, Gary Brackett!  Mr. Brackett shared how vital it is to get involved in the community. With thousands of people being impacted by cancer every year, it’s crucial we share Cancer Support Community’s mission, and continue to serve our community. With the cards, we’ll be able to share hope with those receiving treatment.

We give heartfelt thanks to Gary Brackett for encouraging the students to get involved in their community and to the staff at the Orchard School for organizing and allowing CSC to share our mission with your students.  A BIG thank you to the awesome 5th and 6th grade students who joined us today to design encouraging cards and helping ensure that no one faces cancer alone!
