Creating Space for Healing: Spotlight on Katie Wesolowski

At Cancer Support Community Indiana, we are grateful for team members who bring both clinical expertise and heartfelt compassion to the individuals and families we serve. We’re proud to highlight Katie Wesolowski, whose work in art therapy creates meaningful spaces for expression, healing, and empowerment.

Katie earned her master’s degree in Art Therapy with an Emphasis in Counseling from Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College in July 2025. She was first introduced to Cancer Support Community Indiana as a graduate intern and quickly felt connected to the organization’s mission. Inspired by the dedication of the community and the commitment to ensuring no one faces cancer alone, she joined the team full-time in August 2025.

As an Art Therapist and Licensed Counselor, Katie facilitates multiple art therapy groups at CSC Indiana and in partnership with Franciscan Health Indianapolis and IU Health North Hospital. She also provides one-on-one art therapy and counseling, along with bedside art services for patients receiving chemotherapy. Across these settings, Katie helps participants use creative expression as a tool to process emotions, build coping skills, and reclaim a sense of agency in their cancer journeys.

Katie is passionate about helping people understand that art therapy is not about talent or artistic skill. Instead, it is about the process—creating space for reflection, honoring lived experience, and discovering personal strength through creativity.

We are thankful for Katie’s dedication, warmth, and the meaningful impact she makes each day in the lives of those we serve.
