It’s been said that laughter is the best medicine—and it’s even better when laughter can support healing not just in the moment, but for a year to come.
On the evening of Saturday, March 19, we’re hosting our 16th annual Laughing Matters fundraiser at Indianapolis’ Hilbert Theater. This year’s headliner, Seth Meyers, is the current host of NBC’s Late Night with Seth Meyers. He replaced Jimmy Fallon in the seat in 2014. Before his current role, he was a cast member on Saturday Night Live from 2001-2014, during which time he served as one of the show’s head writers from 2005-2014; from 2006-2012 he had no writing partner. Some of his iconic work on SNL includes characters like Zach Ricky, host of Pranksters, and impersonations of public figures like John Kerry and Peyton Manning. Meyers has also spoken at the White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner and hosted multiple award shows, including the 66th Primetime Emmys in 2014.
The event kicks off at 6pm with a VIP reception and cocktails. From 8 to 8:45 we’ll talk to our VIPs about Cancer Support Community, our mission, and our successes since last year’s fundraiser. And after a brief intermission, Seth will take the stage at 9:15pm, and remind us of the power of laughter to amaze and inspire us.
This fundraiser is critical to keeping Cancer Support Community’s programming and support free of charge for survivors and their caregivers. Tickets start at $45.50 and can be purchased at https://www.indianapolissymphony.org/event-detail/laughing-matters or by phone at (317) 639-4300. Sponsorship opportunities are also available.
